Before you begin

Use this form to apply for a new A08 or A09 individual licence.

Before you start completing the form, you should know or have ready:

  • information about the problem the wild birds are causing
  • details of the species involved and the approximate number of birds nesting at or visiting the site
  • information about any other control methods you've already tried
  • the site name and location
  • details of any impacts on protected sites
  • information about any previous licences for this site
  • the actions you plan to take to control wild birds
  • your contact details

You may be asked to submit supporting evidence with your application, including:

  • evidence of the problem caused by the wild birds - read the A08 and A09 guidance (opens in new tab) for examples of evidence you can provide
  • a log of bird observations at the site, including records of any non-lethal control methods you've used
  • a site map showing where you plan to carry out bird control - instructions later in this form explain how to create your map
