Why you need to report

From July 2026, the Environment Agency will start contacting businesses that export waste under Article 18 (green list) controls (opens in new tab) to request information about:

  • their waste shipments
  • the overseas facilities they export waste to

To prepare for this, you need to tell the Environment Agency about the waste export activities you're likely to carry out in the next 12 months.

If you're likely to export waste in the next 12 months

You will need to report information about the likely:

  • controls that will apply to the exports
  • waste types and destinations (if it includes Article 18 waste)

The Environment Agency will use your answers to:

  • work out whether you will need to send digital Annex VII information when the new system starts
  • make sure you get the information you need to comply

If you're not likely to export waste in the next 12 months

You still need to report this. The Environment Agency will then know to not contact you about this again, unless they need to clarify your answers.
