This is a new service. Help us improve it and give your feedback (opens in new tab) .

Before you start

You should use this form to submit a notice of proposal (assent) to Natural England to undertake activities on or near protected sites, that you have already screened as part of your Section 28G duties. You cannot use this form to report emergency works or works that have already started.

Check your activities are likely to cause damage before completing this form. If your activities are deemed to likely cause damage to the notified features of a European site, you must complete a habitats regulations assessment (HRA) first, and seek Natural England advice, if applicable. If you have a HRA, be prepared to upload this as part of your notice.

Persons who have been contracted by public bodies, known as S28G authorities, may complete this form on their behalf where they have been officially appointed to act. You may need to provide proof of this permission.
If you are applying for assent as part of a land management scheme agreement, you will need a Single Business Identifier (SBI) number.

To help assess the impacts of your activities

Use the designated sites view system (opens in new tab) to find out which habitats and species are of special scientific interest, and which activities are likely to damage them.

Search for the relevant SSSI, select 'View details' then 'View ORNECs'.
